Yesterday was also High School Orientation. She said it was AWESOME! I guess they really hyped the kids for High School. I'm glad, she's been looking forward to it, but now she has more to look forward to.

Guess Who's 13?

Teresa had her 13th birthday Friday. Boy what a day! We always start the special day with breakfast on the special birthday plate. It's usually pancakes, Teresa wanted hers with strawberry syrup. Yum! Oh, and a candle to make a morning wish.

After breakfast she got her Psych fix. Her and Nathan are watching season one again. I worked on her birthday cake for that night. For lunch we met Jonathan at Sequoia Sandwich Shop, so yummy! And the weather wasn't bad, we enjoyed our lunch outside. There was just enough time for me to finish the cake before we had to get to the movies, we went to the discount theater to see Rango (I wouldn't recommend it, but we had a good time anyway)  Then back to the house for dinner of potatoes and hot dogs, something we have once a year, usually on her birthday. I love that she knows what she wants.

Quadropus?

Teresa's 6th grade class has what they call character cash that they earn for showing good character and other positive things. Each quarter they have a "yard Sale". The kids bring in things they want to sell for character cash(old toys, books, etc.) and then the teachers have an auction for really cool things, like pizza with a teacher, or a game of basketball, tea party - stuff like that. So the first quarter we made sock buddies, and they were a huge hit. This time we made quadropus. They use a glove and buttons. They turned out pretty cute and the kids loved them. Here is a picture of all the different ones we made. (I should mention there are buttons on the bottom of their four tentacles)

Skating!

The kids both got skates for Christmas

Grandma and Grandpa gave Teresa new rollerblades

And Nathan got Teresa's old Fisher-Price skates that go over his shoes. They are perfect for him. They have 3 settings, level 1 locks the front wheels, 2 makes them roll slow and 3 is normal. He's using them on 2 and doing okay.

Last Week

Teresa had a terrific first week of school. She's in 6th grade this year. They rotate between the 3 teachers and so far she loves them all.

She goes to camp KEEP in 4 weeks - yikes! She's really excited.

Friday was a pretty fun day. Nathan and I went and played with Ian and Michelle and Luke for Ian's birthday. Then to lunch. It was very fun!

And then that evening we were all at the hospital waiting to welcome Sean and Serina's baby boy. Ryan Jackson Perry was born that evening, weighing 4lbs 14oz. He was born 5 weeks early, but he's doing okay and is SO adorable! I can't wait until he gets to come home and we can meet him. (They have pictures on their blog)

Saturday we partied all day. Well, not all day, first there was the assembly of a cake and then naps, THEN we partied. Ian's party and then James' party.

Teresa's Birthday Party

Teresa had a great birthday Party on Saturday. Teresa was able to invite 3 friends to solve a birthday mystery with her. I don't have a lot of pictures yet, my mom took the pictures while I took video.

The theme of the party was based off a book Teresa wants to write "The Birthday Mystery". So the cake is part of the series of books, since The birthday Mystery is book 7. We took them to the Market Place where they had to fine 4 familiar people. Each person had a clue, but in order to get the clue the girls had to do something funny. Then they had to decode those clues to give them directions to the next clue. That led them to a chair with gummy worms under it, which led them to the movie posters by the theater, which then took them to Carl's Jr. for lunch. Then on to a gift store to make key chains and then the final clue was a description of Harry Potter, and asked where he might be found. They came up with the the book store and there was the present, it had 4 gift cards in it for the girls to pick out a book. Then we raced back to the house to have cake and ice cream with the family.

New Glasses

After much searching Teresa was finally able to find frames that she liked. And they only took 4 days instead of the 8-10, she was so excited. It's a new prescription too, so new frames and she can see better. She keeps telling me she has all things to be happy about. New glasses, a clean room, good books to read and her birthday in 5 days.

I think she looks so pretty, yes, I guess I should say pretty instead of cute. Afterall, she is almost 11 :)

I think this is my 100th post

It's Summer!!!

Yesterday was Teresa's last day of school. She has had a great year. She came home with straight A's. She was very excited, and we are very proud of her. Her GPA gradually got higher and higher over the year. She worked hard. And now on to 6th grade. Can you believe it!?!?

We are both looking forward to next year. There are a lot of changes at her school, but we've recently found out they are not bad changes. We now know the 6th grade teachers and 2 of them are on site already. I have no doubt they are going to be good. We also have a male teacher(that will make 2 on campus) coming from another school who is awesome with the GATE 6th graders.

They had a track meet in the morning and so we let the little ones loose to play. Here is Roxy and Nathan running in a hula-hoop

We have the privilege of turtle sitting over summer. Teresa has wanted one and has been saving money for a turtle. So this was a perfect opportunity to see if it's really is something she wants. So far, the kids are fascinated by him.

Field Trip

Teresa went on her 5th grade field trip to Riley's farm yesterday. They left at 6am and she returned after 6pm. They gave the kids an idea of what it was like during the American Revolution. With work stations, money, clothing, food and a re-enactment.

Teresa enjoyed it, despite the fact that she got sick. Poor kid started feeling bad and had to go lay down in one of the mom's cars. They ended up letting her ride with them, which was good because they had to stop twice for her to puke. I told her it's a field trip she won't easily forget.

Piano Recital

Teresa had her second little piano recital this evening. Marisha called her the best improviser. She did a great job. She was nervous because she didn't quite have all of this song memorized, so last night we learned how to mess up. She said she messed up a few time and she just kept right on playing. I know that sounds weird, but I was proud of her :)
