More Funny Boy!

I have to start by saying Nathan has croup again - which I found out is the same as an adult having laryngitis, where your voice box is inflamed. Anyway, it makes for a nasty sounding cough and a very cute raspy voice.

Okay, so last night he called me back into his room after he'd been put to bed and said his "O O-Ah Ah" was a afraid of the dark. I responded with a question to verify what he was saying.
Me: "Your monkey is afraid of the dark?"

Nathan: "Yes, That one!" (pointing to Curious George on the wall). "He needs the light on"

Me: "No, he'll be okay, you have a Ho-Ho light to help you be less afraid" (The ho ho light is a night light with Santa on it)

He was content and went to sleep. He has some strange demands and often many of them, but he's usually easy to please. Even if he's still sad about it, I get a cute "okay, mommy!"

**I have to make another note He has recently turned 3, which means the last 6 months were the terrible 2's. There were plenty of cute things, but they rarely outweighed the bad :( Just a part of being 2. But he's much better now :)
He has little things that he says, that make us laugh and we've started using them in a teasing way. When he doesn't like something, he says. " I like that, AT ALL!" Then when something happens more than once he was saying it happened "2 time, got it!" But just recently that changed to "5,4,6" . So he might say, The fly bug me 5,4,6. We keep telling him he should say 4,5,6, or 6,5,4. But he likes 5,4,6. He can count to 10 the right way, Oh except 10 is 4. We'll let him have that one for a little longer :)

1 more funny one - it was just a few days ago. I was turning the kitchen light off and he got upset and said the light needed to be on. I had to ask why, he said because the food would be sad. (Of course, what was I thinking)

And a sweet one. I asked him for a hug and as he hugged me he said that hugs make him happy - ahh! He has started telling people he loves them randomly. Oh along the love line...if I have to take something from him or stop him from doing something, he'll say - But I lub it! It happened when he was playing with Ian, I told him he couldn't play with him because he was being mean, and his reply was " But I lub him"

A fun Week

Monday the kids had their well child visits. Nathan's height and weight are in the 95th percentile - but he's been like that his whole life :) Teresa's height is in the 70th % and weight in the 50th%. Tall and thin! She is 4ft 11in. Poor Teresa had to get 3 shots. This called for ice cream before lunch.

Yes, this is Teresa eating her ice cream with a small Baskin Robbins sample spoon, and the empty cone. She ate the cone too, just not with the ice cream.

That afternoon Emily came up with the 3 boys to spend time with us :D

We had a fun BBQ over at James and Amanda's.

*****

Then Tuesday we all went to the beach. We didn't want to fight LA traffic so we headed west to Avila Beach. There were a lot of people, but we didn't mind, we only needed a small spot to sit and play in the sand.

We dove right in to the sand, Nathan and I played in the waves for awhile and then back to the sand.

We saw 100's of seals swim by. It was so cool! They came very close to the wave line too. The Pelicans were following the seals. There must have been some feast.

The kids found a clam and a sea snail to harass while they were there. When we were leaving they spotted an injured Pelican coming up the beach. Poor thing had a hook in it's wing. Someone called animal control to come help it.

This is just a strange car we saw on our way home. It said Dob Robot or something like that

Sometimes...

Sometimes dad's are better than mom's...

* cookies for lunch
* Pizza every night
* movies together
* no bedtime
* and best of all, for me, the mom...little boys potty train.

I had to go out of town this last weekend to photograph my cousins wedding. Teresa wasn't feeling well, so they couldn't go. I was sad to be without them, but they were well taken care of and they had a lot of fun.
It ended up being better this way. Teresa is feeling way better and I was able to focus on the wedding.

Nathan's day

We started the day with pancakes on the special birthday plate and a candle. Then we headed to the free movie at the theater - it was "Space Chimps" - which is pretty funny!

Then it was lunch at Del Taco - to eat and play on the toys. Then a late nap. By the time he woke up it was almost dinner time, so Teresa and Nathan played trains and bubbles outside while they waited for dinner.

After dinner was gifts and cake. You should see him rip through those gifts. His big gift was a sand box. And at 7am this morning he was asking me to help him get dressed so he could go play. So him and I put our jackets on and we've been playing in the sand box :)

I should note that Jonathan, Ty and I worked very hard to get those pavers(under the sand box) put in before Thurs. They look great!

Look Who's 3!

Nathan at 1 month

3 years

This was taken this morning.
He doesn't always want his picture taken, but he was pretty excited this morning to see the birthday sign and balloons. He even told us he was 3 - he's been very sure he was going to be 4.

4th of July Weekend

Friday night the boys went camping up in Tehachapi with their dad. They took Teresa to spend the night with her grandma and Desi. Teresa called me around 7:30 Friday to tell me she was having SO much fun :)

Jonathan says their camping trip was an adventure, they had fun and would do it again. Here are a few pictures.

Saturday evening we went over to Ty and Michelle's for a few fireworks. Their neighbors had a whole table full, that added to our little show.

Two more Cakes

The first one is for a teacher. Her daughter graduated from college. It was a spur of the moment thing, but turned out nice.

This one is for a different teacher. Her daughters birthday is today and she wanted a miniature wedding cake using her wedding colors, black, white and red. She is getting married in a month. The bottom is a 2 layer 8" round, middle is a 6" round, and then a 4" round. It's all pretty small. The red roses were made weeks ago using fondant. They are itty bitty ;)

Escape to Cambria

The Sunday after Teresa's party Jonathan and I left for short, yet wonderful vacation. It was almost cold when we got there, but that didn't stop us from walking the beach, then back to the hotel room to get ready for dinner. Monday morning we made sure we had plenty of time to get packed and have breakfast before we headed down to the tidepools, that were, quite literally across the street. We love Cambria! Here are a few pictures.

This is our gorgeous room

The view from our window, we were right across from
the ocean

The tidepools were cool. They were crawling with life

There's a nice path to walk along the coast

There were so many seals and they were very close

Oh and I can't forget to mention the cute, small town. We walked up and down main street. My favorite shop was a little vintage shop, Oh, and the fudge shop ;)

Teresa's Birthday Party

Teresa had a great birthday Party on Saturday. Teresa was able to invite 3 friends to solve a birthday mystery with her. I don't have a lot of pictures yet, my mom took the pictures while I took video.

The theme of the party was based off a book Teresa wants to write "The Birthday Mystery". So the cake is part of the series of books, since The birthday Mystery is book 7. We took them to the Market Place where they had to fine 4 familiar people. Each person had a clue, but in order to get the clue the girls had to do something funny. Then they had to decode those clues to give them directions to the next clue. That led them to a chair with gummy worms under it, which led them to the movie posters by the theater, which then took them to Carl's Jr. for lunch. Then on to a gift store to make key chains and then the final clue was a description of Harry Potter, and asked where he might be found. They came up with the the book store and there was the present, it had 4 gift cards in it for the girls to pick out a book. Then we raced back to the house to have cake and ice cream with the family.

The girls were told to come in disguise

Here they are decoding the first clues

Here is the cake
